Are we at war?

It's difficult for me and any other human-being with moderate EQ to erase the tragic memories of 9/11. It was a brutal mass-murder carried out in the name of religion in order to 'teach American government a lesson'. And well, a lesson was indeed taught to a billion people that this world is not any more a haven for their children. What followed 9/11 was the 'War against Terror', which culminated into 'War against Iraq' and it's citizens and then turned into an opportunity for America to pocket some oil. And, if time permits, this war will definitely see Mr. O.B. Laden in prison!

The US government has many accomplishments to boast about
after this 'War against Terror', or whatever you call it. Bush has got Saddam killed and Iraq torn apart (the ongoing civil war will take care of the rest) thereby wiping out the entire country for housing fictional Biological weapons. And what about Osama?! Still absconding?!!!

Now let's move on to technological warfare going on between Gates and Jobs (names listed alphabetically and not on the basis of merit). Both are trying to prove who's the boss. iPod - Zune, Leopard - Vista, iPhone - ? is what's going on today. But, contrary to 'War against Terror', this falls under the genre of constructive warfare. Competition breeds a want for refinement and hence a killer application is born. But sometimes an urge to prove one's superiority, sucks up valuable resources at either end and leads to the death of organizations engaged in this contemporary warfare. Never mind, this is a remote possibility for either Apple or Microsoft.

A common man like me, faces competition at every walk of life. If you are a common man, the implication will sound obvious!
Competition breeds hate, rivalry and distrust. It puts a constraint on one's growth. An individual aspires to score over his rival who may or may not be the best person in the trade.

I believe and emphasize that one's competition should be with one's own self. One should strive to elevate oneself physically and emotionally which, in turn, will alleviate hate and distrust and will automatically lead to harmony and goodwill among individuals.

A beautiful picture indeed, if painted with dexterity and precision of a saint.
