TCS Power Prep

Software giants like TCS, Infosys, CTS and Wipro are recruiting heavily these days. They pick up freshers directly from the campus or through off campus recruitment drives. TCS recruits freshers through its DT Recruitment Drive (or Direct Trainee Recruitment Drive) and the talent test is held in almost all major cities all over India. The division has a famous tradition of repeating questions now and then in its talent tests. I did come across a few repeated ones.

During my preparation for the test, I referred websites like www.freshersworld.com, www.vyomworld.com, www.aucse.com, www.techinterviews.com and the like. I used to download the preparatory material from these websites and prepare accordingly. Although, I had my work organized systematically, yet going through the whole material without any links was very tedious. Therefore, I thought it'd be better to bundle up the whole material under a Compiled HTML Help file. This will not only make navigation easier but will also project a descent and clear view of the whole thing. Apart from the above mentioned websites, most of the questions have been cited from group e-mails and a few of them have been included by me, which I feel useful and likely to be asked in the test or interview. I must thank all those who have forwarded these questions on various mailing groups. All credit goes to these unseen friends.

The material has been bundled under the name - TCS POWER PREP(aration). Anyone who goes through it thoroughly, is bound to be well prepared for the big day. I have taken great pains in compiling 700 synonyms in the form of a quiz, which I think you will use to its fullest and will definitely enjoy. A list of likely questions for both technical and personal interview have been listed; answers to which can easily be found from the text books. The technical questions arranged subject-wise, have been chosen so as to provide the candidate with an insight into the subject in question.

I've put in my best in compiling the study material. This has been done to make the preparation of the aspiring TCSer much easier. My reward for this job will be to see your dream come true after studying this extensive material. This is for your benefit, so make full use of it. The learned reader is welcome to deliver his/her valuable comments, suggestions, criticisms, advices etc. directly to my inbox. You may even help your friends by forwarding this material on various mailing groups.

Please DO NOT flood my mailbox by either sending in your resume, as I am not a recruiter, or by forwarding any junk mails to me.

Download it right here and that too...for free!

...And don't forget to leave a comment!

Fun with Liam!

At times, animations may look foolish and unnecessary. But they may also be helpful for attracting prospective users. Yahoo! has done a great job by introducing Liam as an indicator of user log-in progress. Although I've switched to GMail, yet I log into Yahoo! Mail often, only for the fun of watching Liam performing a gimmick. Altogether, five versions of Liam have been launched till date and all of them are presented below.

Liam's first device - a ball.

Liam shaking booty in his second incarnation - my favorite.

Liam being chased by an Ostrich.

Liam's ready for a Happy Valentine's Day!

Liam toning his waist and abdomen.

My Wife's Marriage

A hilarious short film called "Meri Vohuti da Viyah" (My Wife's Marriage) by punjabi comedy king Gurpreet Ghuggi is making it to the top in Punjab these days. A well-crafted song describing the happiness experienced by a dying husband who completes his sacred duty before death by marrying his wife to a deserving candidate.

One of the song describing such happienss is presented in my voice below. Do lend it an ear and enjoy the lyrics.

Thus spake Yudhistra...

The following dialogue between Yaksha and King Yudhistra has been recorded in Mahabharata. It brings to book the essential elements which each human being should know and try relating to.

Yaksha: What is heavier than earth?
Yudhistra: Mother

Ya: What is higher than the sky?
Yu: Father

Ya:
What is faster than the wind?
Yu: The mind

Ya: What is more in number than twigs?
Yu: Worry

Ya: Who is the friend of the person close to death?
Yu: Charity

Ya: Where does Religion, Success, Heaven and Happiness reside?
Yu: Religion resides in Awareness, Success in Charity, Heaven in Truth and Happiness in Chastity

Ya: What is Man's Soul?
Yu: His Son

Ya: What has covered the earth?
Yu: Ignorance

Ya: What is Laziness?
Yu: Ignorance of Religion is laziness

Ya: Who is truly happy?
Yu: The one free of debt

Ya: What is true cleansing?
Yu: The cleansing of the mind

Ya: What is darker than eye black?
Yu: Disrepute

Ya: Which is the best religion?
Yu: Piety!

Ya: What can prevent mourning?
Keeping the mind in control

Ya: What is shame?
Yu: Keeping away from unworthy things

Ya: What is piety?
Wishing happiness for all

Ya: What kills the nation?
Yu: Slavery

Ya: What is the true test of Brahminhood? Dynasty, Character, Teaching or Knowledge?
Yu: Dynasty, Teaching or Knowledge do not prove Brahminhood. Character is the true test.

Ya: Is religion in logic?
No!

Ya: Is it found in philosophy of Sages?
Yu: No! Because each Sage differs from the others. None has the complete truth.

Ya: Then, where is the complete truth?
Yu: In the heart of the believer

Ya: What is the greatest wonder?
Yu: The greatest wonder is that each person knows that death is the ultimate truth and yet believes that maybe he is immortal.

Later, the Yaksha reveals that he is Dharamaraj (God of Truth) and had come to see Yudhistra.

Shamu - A great sport!

Seaworld, San Diego, is the place to be. Sea animals dancing to the tune of their master in more or less human-like ways - using their fins and flexible limbs dexterously. I went to the Seaworld after doing some research over the Internet and came to know that Shamu show termed "Believe!" is the best. I liked dolphin and walrus shows equally but Shamu's show used technology to it's maximum advantage.

I made myself comfortable at the non-splash zone for the fear of getting drenched. The introduction of the show was marvellous. In huge LCD screens, it was shown that how a kid, because he believed in himself, was able to train the killer whale. Then all four whales along with their trainers were introduced by the master trainer.

The show was enormous and no word can describe the awe I was in when I saw the killer whale behaving like a tamed pet. Each and every moment of the show was captured by cameras hoisted at different positions and was projected on LCD. Awesome!!!

The most comic part of the show was when Shamu splashed water all
over the stadium and people sitting in the splash zone were drenched from head to toe. Shamu's coat gleamed in the Sun and added to the beauty of the killer whale.

The show was wonderful. Equally good were the dolphin and walrus shows. The park is well maintained and has good food outlets.

I wish I could go to San Diegoo and watch these three shows again. But unfortunately, my two day pass has expired!
